Question:

Is cramping normal AFTER a medical abortion?

I had a medical abortion on Wednesday afternoon. Thursday night I was still experiencing mild cramping, even though paperwork states that 24 hours later you should feel fine. Friday morning, the cramping had gone away, however friday night I began to bleed heavier and began to have mild pains in my lower pelvic region (kind of like stabs on the pelvic bone area). My temperature has never risen above 98.8 and I do not feel nasueas. With all the reading I've done about women who died from sepsis and other infections after their medical abortion (they had no fever, no normal infection symptoms), I am now paranoid and I don't know what is considered "normal cramping" or "normal pains" after a medical abortion... can anyone help and give insight?? Thanks!

  1. Get medical attention right away- You life is worth it; and as far as your last comment - judgement is the last thing you need right now, you need a hug - here is one - NOW go get help!

  2. Sweetheart, it would be in your best interest to go to an Urgent Care or ER.

Its not something you should ignore.

  3. its the same as bad period pains, heavy bleeding and clotting is also normal

  4. abortion??????????

    poor child :(

  5. I had a D&C about three weeks ago (Which is basically the same as an abortion) and my cramps stayed around for 8 days and bleeding stopped then started again very heavy for about 10 days...its only just stopped so i think this is normal as my dr didnt seem to worried...if you get a temp then see doc and try look after yourself, eat well

  6. sounds like a good reason to make a phone call to the place that did this.  you should likely have symptoms like a normal menstral cycle would be.  I have never had an abortion, but I work as a medical assistant, so I am only guessing.  good luck.
