  1. i was pregnant and i craved cell phones,

put them in a cup and munched on them all day

    ice, mobile phones

    tomato, tomatoe

    its all normal baby.

  2. a friend of mine had an ice craving while she was pregnant and for 6months after. She'd had a glass full off ice cubes & munch through them! Won't do you any harm.

  3. HAHA. Very Normal. I Even Craved The Smell Of Ice! I Would Buy A Bag Of Ice From The Store And Stick My Head In The Bag To Smell The Ice. But Instead Of Drinking Water Or Eating Crunchy Foods, I'd Suck On, And Eat Ice. :) But It Can Indicate An Iron Difency. You Should Check With Your Doctor Just To Make Sure. Good Luck!

  4. It could be that your iron is low.  Tell your doctor and eat lots of red meat until you see her/him to hel supliment the iron.  Congrats!!!

  5. i ate ice constantly during my pregnancy mainly third trimester...but i also had an iron deficiancy.

  6. i used 2 love ice wen i was pregnant, i used 2 freeze bottles of water and just crush it up, i did it all the time. pickled onion was a fave too lol

  7. Common but not normal...I had it badly..it ios called PICA which means to crave non food items...it often indicates an iron shortage so get your blood done and get some iron from the doc.

  8. I know when ever I start craving ice I am iron anaemic again.  If you are pregnant you may want to see your doctor and have blood tests drawn.  You cannot just take any vitamin while pregnant.  Please make sure to ask which pre-natal is best for you.

Because I have been iron anaemic all my life, I was actually sent to a class to learn what I should eat to help with mine.

First off eat things rich in iron.  Avoid drinking tea with food, the tannic acid blocks your body from absorbing the iron.  Drink things with vitamin C when you eat.  Vit C helps your body absorb iron.

    Good for you foods are:

    Eggs - especially the yolk

Oily fish e.g. tuna, sardines, pilchards, cockles and mussels

    Kidney, liver, heart

    Lamb, game, beef

    Black pudding, corned beef, faggots

    Oxo, Bovril

    Wholemeal bread and flour

Iron-fortified cereals - Bran, Branflakes, Weetabix

Beans and pulses e.g. lentils, chick peas, haricot, kidney, pinto, baked, butter, peas

Nuts - almonds, cashews, Brazils, walnuts

Dried fruit - apricots, figs, dates

    Green vegetables - watercress, spinach

Rich fruit cake, gingerbread, ginger biscuits

    Curry powder

    Cocoa, chocolate, black treacle

  9. yes. I had a terrible ice craving with my now 10 week old.

  10. Hah hah... yes that is completely normal when you are pregnant.  Most likely it is b/c you are slightly anemic (low on iron).  Take a good prenatal regularly and have your doc do the blood work to see if you need additional iron supplements. If you do they'll probably give your chromagen and you'll just take one extra pill a day.  Also, experiment with different prenatals, some are alot higher in iron.  I started taking Prefera-Ob b/c it has the dha, iron, and all the other stuff and it is a LITTLE pill.  Unfortunately it isn't covered by all insurance plans (instead they'll give you 3 different pills), but it is only $34 a month at CVS.

Try eating some more green veggies.  Personally, I eat almost an entire cow every week when I'm pregnant or else we'd always be running out of ice. Steakhouses LOVE me.

It generally isn't considered Pica if you only have these cravings during your pregnancy b/c it is due to deficiencyones and probably the iron deficency.

I wouldn't worry about it as long as you're not hurting your teeth just let your dr know.  If you up the iron you'll probably stop the cravings.  You know what is really good hough if you have these cravings anyway?  Do shaved ice and top with your favorite fruit (I prefer strawberries and blueberries), then drizzle with a little sweetend condensed milk.

    Enjoy the pregnancy.  Good Luck!

  11. You think that's strange?  A friend of my aunt, used to suck pieces of coal.  Someone I know, chomps on sticks of chalk, and she's a school teacher! With access to easy supplies, can you imagine how many she can get through in a day?

As long as your doc is sure you aren't lacking in any Vits or minerals,I wouldn't worry about it.

  12. Yeah its normal, thats what i craved with my daughter, oh and its what Katie Price craved with hers.

  13. Well, it's nicer than coal or earth which I've heard pregnant women have craved for! As for me, I just had to have cream of tomato soup in the early stages of my first pregnancy! None of your cravings sound particularly harmful. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

  14. Yes its normal, i had a craving for ice lollies and chewing gum i had to make sure there were plenty of these in at the time cause i would of killed my partner lol if i could not put my hands on either also a rather strange one but never tried but i loved the smell of tolerene.

  15. yeah. its normal. was craving ice when i was pregnant

  16. hi I'm 38+5 days and I'm craving ice but the shop bought mineral water ice, there's nothing wrong with my iron, its weird because before i was pregnant i couldn't eat much because it used to give me toothache or headache and now i just crunch through it like nobodies business, the midwife told me it was good because its helping me to get more fluids thus stopping me from becoming dehydrated xx

  17. totally normal. and very common. it can sometimes indicate an iron deficiency, but it's not that common and your blood tests will show if you need to take supplements.

  18. When my sister was pregnant with her second child she craved ice!!! Like she would get big cups of ice and just crunch on that all day!!!

So i'm pretty sure its normal!!

  19. Sometimes...usually it's a iron deficiancy though. ask the doc.
