  8. Eloquent words but I guess most Aussies and New  Zealanders (at least) will relate to.  When we learn sport from the moment we can play it is always about the team. Not only cricket but all the football codes as well.

    Yes there are stars but usually they quickly brought back to earth by their team mates.  That way we don't sporting gods just simply players that are gifted but still human.

    Actually cricket is a very selfish game when it comes to society as a whole - it assumes people have nothing to do but sit for days and watch a cricket match, go on, and on, and on.

  11. you can't ignore the human aspect involved in cricket. Ideally when the team wins everyone wins but there are personal goals and desires that influence the individual players and some times their action are not always in the best interest of the team. It's unfortunate but it's a reality that we all have to live with.

  12. Well sometimes players can be selfish. Players have to defend their place in the team sometimes, defend their sponsors etc. So there can be some selfishness as there can be competition between the players of the same team.
