  1. There are no longer any gentlemen at leisure any more. Even the rich have to work hard for a living these days.

Players come from all walks of life. Sledging, slapping, sneaking behind and reporting to Media, match fixing.... , even 'body line', is not what a gentleman would do.

  2. Not after all the match fixing and indiscipline incidents...

  3. When cricket first started, it was only a social game, and therefore a gentlemans game. Now it is a professional sport & the aim is to win, but apart from a few odd things it still is a fairly gentle sport compared to the cut throat world of other sports

  4. Not at all,

Match fixing, Players like harbhajan, sreeshanth & akhthar.....

  5. Cricket is still gentleman's game.Future of cricket is very good and bright.Look at Ipl matches in India now.

  6. No. Cricket is no more a gentleman's game and the main aim of each team appears to be to win the match at any cost.

  7. I agree, England actually didn't help the branding of cricket as a 'gentleman's game' (Poor Don Bradman vs bodyline days). Australia wasn't much better with the Trevor Chappell underarm incident of 1981. But its not about pointing fingers anymore. Whether or not it is a gentleman's game anymore depends on who is playing it and how they formed themselves as players.

But in today's game, sometimes gentleman antics onfield can be subject to criticism. For example, Adam Gilchrist and his 'walking'. So it becomes increasingly difficult for players to emulate a so called gentleman's game of cricket.

  8. ofcourse not.........the journey of cricket frm england to the world hs been disastrous

  9. Does it really matter? They play, entertain us & make a good living from it, so that's all you can ask. There's always been controversy in cricket, just read back through the history of the game. The only thing is, because communications are much better now you get to see & hear more about it.
