Is crude oil becoming a thing of the past?

when I think of gas powered cars, I think of the PS2/PS3.

sure, they're still making games for it, but we all know PS3 will be taking over shortly.

The Univerese is abundant.  There is enough of everything to go around.  Don't believe the lies.   The shift from oil will happen as we improve our lives and the things around us, but not because we are running out.  and the whole corn idea?  worst idea in history.  it takes an acre of corn to produce 50 gallons of fuel...LOL...and corn prices would go up, which means cattle/beef prices go up etc etc.  On and just to throw this in...the global warming thing....nonsense too...

I don't think so. At least for a very long time. There are few alternatives presently. Nuclear is probably the only proven one that could provide the amount needed. Many think Solar and Wind and Hydrogen, but facts are facts and none of these have advanced enough to provide anywhere near practicality.

It's becoming a thing for the rich.   Prices will continue to rise because the rich are still willing  and able to pay any price for it.   Too bad for the rest of us though.

not with interests in the dissapearing Aural Sea,drilling in Norway and interest in using any more found as ice in the Arctic melts. Russia has laidclaims to part of the Arctic, Canada has sent ships to patrol the Arctic and The U.S. has staked out areas as well. seems people have not learned and never will. there can be no choice between survival and the economy therecan be no economy of the sort which involves crude oil or oil at all when survival is at stake.

Not yet...the steps for alternative fuels haven't even been miniscule, let alone preparing for the huge strides needed.

Are you kidding?  Crude is NOT on its way out anytime soon.  It'll be around for decades at least.  In fact, it's on the rise with places like China and India.  A push is being made to replace it, but when it actually happens, we'll all probably be ready for retirement.  The problem has many components, 1. alternatives still don't have the energy output as gas, 2. our fuel infrastructure is completely set up for gas, 3. the vast majority of cars are still produced to run only on gas.  The problem with your scenario is, transportation is a necessity and everything is tailored for gasoline, and video games are a luxury which is easily replaced and forgotten about.

It will take awhile but I do see an end to crude oil but you must always remember the power of politics and the oil czars will not go down without a fight for they have too much to lose and they do not want to see their multimillion dollar profits go away. But eventually these giants or others who will replace them will see the benefits  of the PS3 but for now it is a waiting game and how long the waiting game is unknown.
