  1. Usually, curtain calls progress from smaller, ensemble parts, to major parts, to the title role.  At the end, everyone can take a company bow.  This ensures that the audience will keep applauding.  If the major characters were to bow first, then the applause would die out by the time that minor characters had their bow, and that's not good!

  2. Yes.  Chorus bows first, then others follow in order of smallest roles to leading roles.  That way, the applause builds until the final company bow.

  3. usually, sometimes the lead or title role may not be the largest role, but enters last.

  4. Curtain Call - A summons from the audience to appear at the end of a scene (Chambers)

In practice however, it has become the tradition to appear at the end of the whole play for the whole cast.

So evrybody comes, that way the crescendo keeps mounting. People also are waiting to see the the hero-heroine , or the best actor at the end, as they have made the request. Otherwise the minor characters will be lost once the major ones have shown the faces. After all, Theatre and Acting is basically a show business. So it is important that we learn  how best to show and present our characters.

This way the interest and the clappings will be kept up till the end.
