Is customer service in Manhatten generally faster than in the rest of the country?

Question

as New Yorkers are faster talking and busier than other parts?

I'm from Europe and sensed this from watching movies and tv shows set in NY

Most times they don't say anything to you at all.

That's not true at all. I was a waitress in Manhattan for years and I was still friendly.Said greetings and partings. Maybe, it depends on what kind of a restaurant you're in. I will say though that the customer is rarely right there were so many other customers to replace the first problem customer that we would just kick people out and be rude if they were rude to us.

I've lived in New York City as well as other places like Miami and Philadelphia and I can tell you restaurant service is faster in Manhattan than anywhere else! It is true!

I am sure it is because operating expenses are so high in Manhattan, that restaurants have to operate at maximun profitability. Each table has to produce a certain dollar amount (have you noticed that restaurants there are usually smaller and crammed with more tables?). So it is the job of a restaurant manager to get people in and out as quickly as possible.

One more thing. If you are a waiter in Manhattan, you have the chance to make a lot a money in tips if you provide good service. A lot of business people and tourists don't want to waste a lot of time eating in a restaurant, so they want fast service.
