  1. I give my birds cuttle bones and have for years without problems! I don't have an Amozon but I do have a parrot that I've given them to although he just seems to shred them in seconds!

  2. No, they are not poisonous.  They are almost all calcium carbonate.

The main concern is if the bird gets a big piece off the bone and swallows it.  That is not good for their digestive tracts.

Best to scrap some off and put it on the food.

  3. no definatly not! if you buy one from a pet shop you dont have to worry at all! but try not to pick them up of the beach they might have things that can harm your bird on it. i have 2 budgies and im getting 9 more soon! i have a cuttle bone stuck to the side on the cage! its good for them. it blunts their beak and helps with their digestive system! goodluck with it!

  4. No !! Cuttle-bone is not poisonous to Parrots of any species.

What is the problem is that large Parrots tend to snap off large pieces at a time, then the hard (back bone)can damage their throats,to overcome this( a,) break off the hard bone, ( b),break it into small pieces, or grate it onto their food, also give your bird a mineral block as Amazons need quite alot of minerals to keep them in peak condition.

  5. Cuttlebone isn't poisonous to your bird. They provide calcium to their diet, it's also fun for them to chew and destroy!

    My African Grey loves it.

  6. no they are not

    they give the parrot vitamins/minerals

  7. Don't risk it- if your not sure it is much better to play safe.
