Question:

Is cyber school the answer for this situation?

My step-son has been moved from school to school and last year was homeless and failing his grade. W did not have custody then and live in an expensive area.

He came here to live with us and in one year is on the honor roll and well adjusted. Unfortunately we can no longer afford this area. We did find a great place in the country where he will be around allot of kids his age. The new school district is horrible and dangerous. We were told to try cyber school and my son is a wiz on computers.

Thanks

  1. I would say so. I had the same situation. That is what i do with my son. It is very good program! Hope everything works out!!

  2. I don't know much about the cyber school phenomenon, but maybe the school he is in will let him stay.  You could look in to private schools in the new area, maybe he could get a scholarship with his great grades... good luck.  I  think kids need the social aspect of school.  His life has been different enough from "the norm", isolating him again might be dangerous for him emotionally.

  3. This would be good for him, however, online schooling requires alot of self-motivation.

His grades will indeed improve. (mine did.) Just be warned of a sharo decrease of social interaction with teachers and peers.

  4. He needs to be self motivated and a smart kid. When he needs help with pre-calc, will you be there? Or will you need a tutor? These things are important to consider.
