  1. Yes, providing that you do it hard enough, long enough, and often enough~exercise needs to be done with some intensity and consistency.

    Make sure that you're eating a proper diet as well. You can't be pounding twinkies and then casually spin the pedals on a stationary bike and expect to lose weight.

    The formula is simple~ diet + exercise = weight loss.

    One of the downfalls of a stationary bike is that it is boring, and it's hard to be consistent with a boring exercise. Ride a real bike if you have one. It makes you feel like you went somewhere, and you can't quit if you want to make it back home.

It won't directly cause you to lose weight- high intensity aerobic exercise like cycling tends to make your body burn sugars and carbohydrates rather than fats- but it will help if you combine cycling with eating a low fat diet and doing some anaerobic exercise like weight training that does burn fat.

  6. i lost 50lbs riding a bike, and many miles of it are on a stationary bike.  i ride an hour when i use the trainer, and i use a HR monitor to ensure my heartrate is up where i am working.

    losing weight isnt merely a matter of exercise.  it is a matter of using more calories than you eat.  cycling or any exercise can help by increasing your calorie demands, but you have to watch what you eat in combination with it.

  7. Get a real bike! I have tried a stationary bike and I quit after 20 minutes due to mind numbing boredom. I do 2 hour rides on my mountain bike and I always have a good time.

    Losing weight can be easy if you make it that way.

  8. Of course.  Any type of activity is beneficial.  It certainly wont hurt.  Your diet is also good to be conscious of.  

  9. It's good, but i did it and got very bored. I even tried listening to music and then i even turned on tv set...i walk now and i can go different places on foot and lose weight at the same time.
