  1. This question was asked and my answer then was Johnny Wilkinson based on his performance and win in the biggest event in Rugby the World Cup, since then nothing has changed.  You have to win a Rugby World Cup to actually assert your bragging rights, and so far he hasn't done so.  Results speak for themselves.

Who is better johnny wilikinson or dan carter.  This question was previously asked a month ago and this was my answer

I'm a kiwi but to be perfectly honest based on past performances on the highest stage I'd go for Johnny Wilkinson. He has won the Rugby World Cup, Dan Carters career is still in its infancy, until the All Blacks win the Rugby World Cup then my opinion will change.

They are two different players and and they play according to team plays. The All Blacks have a more expansive game incorporating a more all round game with all players combining offensively and defensively. Whereas England plays to their strengths which is through the forwards.

Different games plays different setups initiating different player types.

  2. Tough call! You can't rate one as far more superior to the other because they have never versed each other in a match. Everytime the all blacks play england, he's not playing because of injury! Generally, they play different styles of rugby. Johny is heavily into the kicking side of the game where dan carter on the other hand loves to run the ball, they both even on the defence. Kicking, johny edges carter slightly, drop kicks, wilkinson by far but running, carter wins it in that department! This question will be answered when they both verse each other in the game, until then, this is a stupid question! Always remember, There is no I in team. You can't win a game with a player, it takes 15 to win!

  3. Yes but Dan Carter isnt in the World Cup Final so I rest my case!

  4. Both have their ups and downs in a game. so it would be hard to judge their capabilities.

Well for England's win...Jonny played a remarkable game!

    Good Luck in the Finals!

  5. Who are these fine sounding ladies you are talking of?

  6. Very much so honey.  England put way too much pressure on Johnny as they always do.  His performance was not even close to last rugby world cup.

Actually Johnny is probably the only reason why England are where they are.

  7. Carter and Wilkinson have played against each other.... on the Lions tour to NZ in 2005 they both started at 10, not sure how many of the 3 test matches though. I don't know if they have played each other in a NZ v Eng test match....

Carter out-played Wilko, but it was not a fair contest because Wilko was rushed back from injury way before he was ready and Carter was in a much more dominant team.

Wilkinson is the better player in my view, for match winning ability and team influence. England are very hard to beat with Wilko in their team and he has won some big matches for them.

Carter does have a better running game but this has been shut down in recent times (this season in particular). Defences have figured him out and he is not the force he used to be.

  8. Dan carter didnt have the best of years by his standards he was brilliant at times but also average at times. Jonny Wilkinson is overrated, he kicked one winning world cup drop goal and all of the sudden he is the best player in the world, yes the man is a great kicker (has not been his best kicking display this world cup) and a very good defender, but i dont think he has the attacking skills of carter. Wilkinson is a slightly better kicker, defence similar but due to carters brilliance in running with the ball and attacking he is the better player in my opinion. Wilkinson is still a fine player though

  9. If you want to base it on results then you have to take all results in, not just one game.

Im talking about kicking accuracy, number of points scored etc.

Johnny Wilkinson is better than Dan Carter at drop Goals because that is all he seems to be able to do.

If you want to kick all your points then play soccer, the sooner they drop the number of points for a drop goal to 2 the better.

Would be interested to see how they compare in Accuracy, Cant be too many recent stats on Wilkinson because he hasnt played that much, being injured all the time.

Wilkinson is nearing then end of his career while Carter still has plenty of time to develop further although he is already a great player. Overall Carter is my pick.

  10. Depends... If its the world cup year or not!

  11. After a game like this I would say NO!
