Is david backham the most over-rated player or what?

he's is over-rated dont get me wrong he's good, i mean he's OK but everyone rides his d***, makes me sick what do you guys think

The media are responsible  for turning an average player into an icon which was to suit their own ends, i.e. to help them sell papers etc. Many reporters and pundits just jumped on the bandwagon, again for their own needs.

The problem is that the  public fell for it. The more his name appeared in the media, for all the wrong reasons, the more his so called footballing value went up. This was because his name helped sell more useless things like his after shave etc. and not because of his ability on the football field.

If you think Beckham is over-rated than you listen to a lot of people who don't know that much about the game. Anyone who really knows the game, will tell you that he is a good player and could still play at the top levels but he isn't the best player. He was just voted best soccer player at the ESPYS...what a joke, so that might tell you about how many people really really know the game in this country.

You should listen to world soccer daily radio show, a great show by some people who really know the game and it's funny as well.

i assume you are referring to David Beckham of the Galaxy? If so then maybe he is not as good as he used to be but he has certain intangeables about him. His set pieces are still among the best in the world along with his delivery. He does have a good work rate although his engine is fading. He doesn't get a huge amount of goals but thats not what he's there for. Him and Blanco are the best players in the MLS at the moment. He has been a catalyst to the growth of the MLS turning it into a slightly more respectable league than a few years ago. I agree that a few american commentators do build him but thats their job, they also build up many other s**t players.
