I sometimes wonder if Democracy is really a boon.  Doesn't it hamper progress? I observed that in India, lot of partiality or policies are dictated to woo the minority votes. In India, the majority lives in the shadow of minority...Caste politics still plays an important role. I sometimes feel, India is pseudo-secular, where minorities are preferred over majority Hindus. Where the constitution clearly says, there should not be any discrimination based on caste, creed...its still happens in India. Reservations are prevalent...Its a very strong weapon in politics to woo minority voters... In fact nowadays lawbreakers in the name of democracy and politics do all their nonsense. It’s the politicians who mint all the money at the end of the day, leaving the common man to toil around for the rest of his life to earn even basic commodities.

Secondly, I think to make democracy a success, even press should play a major role. Indian News papers also should try to keep a check on politicians...appraise to the public the work they are doing...Politics is used as a way for criminals to command police...If the media, plays a critical role, if the media can keep check on politicians and motivate public, democracy will definitely be a boon.....
