with 2 parties constantly fighting and stalling each other out they have clearly divided the country into opposing ideals & the bills they propose usually have a string attached to make them invalid how can it work to where we can move foward

  1. I don"t know, there has never been a Democracy in modern times. We live in a Republic.

  2. Well the fastest form of government is Taliban. You cross their path and whack, your head is fast gone from your body.

  3. The way we move forward is called comity. That was the method used in many of the Congresses earlier in my life. Congresses where accommodation and compromise were the order of the day. But, in the 1970s the Democrats were hijacked by people of a certain socialist and statist bent. In the 1980s the GOP became the captive of the Christian Falange. Both are marked by utter rigidity and both count their tawdry little "gotchas"on the other side as some sort of victory. The Democrats forgot that their rank and file from the American working classes had never worked for a poor man. The workers didn't hate the rich. They wanted to build a life for their children in hopes their off-spring would become rich. The rank and file of the GOP didn't think that dissenters were some class of traitor. The GOP was a stalwart for the Bill of Rights. It was a former Republican Governor (Earl Warren) who, as Chief Justice of the United States wrote the majority opinion in Brown versus Topeka Board of Education. The seminal court decision in the civil rights movement. It was the GOP which got the 13th to 14th Amendments to the Constitution ratified. The party's history in gaining civil rights for all inhabitants pre-dated folks like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton by nearly a century.

The Democrats need to throw over the side that wing of the party which despises the common people and believes they know better than the citizens what is best. The GOP needs to kick to the curb that wing which wants an American Ayatollah. Then, and only then can we return to the days of comity.

But, it will still be slow and inefficient. That is good. The most efficient government in the 20th Century ruled Germany from 1932 to May of 1945. It showed the one great problem with efficient governments: Their compulsion to knock on peoples' doors after dark and drag them away never to be heard from again.

  4. I personally believe bureaucracy, which is supposed to make the government more efficient actually makes it less efficient. That is due to the fact that ideas and bills have to go through cabinets, and committees and subcommittees until they can actually be voted on. I like the fact that it allows specialized people to recognize the issue, but it is painfully slow.

  5. this is a democratic republic
