Is depression an actual illness?

if so what are the symptoms and will i get time off work with pay?

  2. Depression is a mental illness. You should get a sick note and should get time off work with pay like any other illness.

    Hope you are feeling better soon.

  3. Yes it is an actual illness. Doctors sometimes use a questionnaire with a scale of 1 to 5, this will determine how you're doing mentally. I don't think it's very easy to fake, and if you've ever had depression you really wouldn't want to.

  5. Yes it is and you need a doctor to assess the lenght of time for treatment and proper medication. If he gives you a leave of absence your pay should be covered.

  6. yes, its a mental illness and i have suffered from it myself. so i know its a real illness.

    you cant fool a doctor to believe you have depression but if you do then you should be able to get sick pay.

    It is seen as a chemical unbalance of the brain which causes chronic and severe levels of mood with mixed emotions from sadness, anger, low self worth and guilt.

    Without medical attention clinical and non clinical depression can get worse or lead to other quite serious Psychiatric illnesses. Depression can even be Hereditary, if any family members suffer from it, then you are easily susceptible to also.
