  1. hes a "short weak nerdy guy trying to be cool" just lik you remember thats what you put on my question

  2. I agree with you that no return man is worth $40 million, but as far as I know it's not all guaranteed, most of it is incentives based on his performance.  Word has it that this past offseason Hester spent a lot of time working with Michale Irvin and Deion Sanders with route running and he actually is starting to look like a legit receiving option.  If he can do that, then he's worth every penny the Bears paid him.  Also if the Bears didn't pay him that money, you can guarantee that some other team would have which is exactly why the Bears needed to make the move they did.

  3. agreed

  4. Well he does play on offense, defense, and special teams he is their go-to guy and he threatened to not show up to training camp if he was not offered a new contract, so that's another reason he's getting paid 10 mil a year

  5. yeah, he'd have to produce more at receiver to be worth that

  6. I don't think he is overrated.  You are right when you say Hester is awesome.  He is a great return man and he has proven to be a deep threat.  That is why so many teams kick away from Hester because if he gets the ball its likely that he will score or gain major yardage.  Think about this, Hester has proven to be a great return man, so the Bears may be giving him a 40 million salary for one of two reasons.  The first reason may be because they want to give him the money as an incentive, kind of like giving him money to keep him motivated to make more plays.  The second reason may be because of his hard work over the past two seasons.  Some organizations want to reward their players with large contracts in order to keep them in on the team and to show the player that their hard work has not gone unnoticed.  By no means is Hester overrated because he is just that good.  The whole 40 million is probably the Bears approach for keeping him happy in Chicago.  The last thing you want as an organization is to lose a key member of your club because you underpaid him..

  7. If he could get better hands, which is why the Bears paid him so much, to get better hands, He would be a valuable addition to that team. He is very hard to cover, he does nice routes, he just needs better hands. To answer your question, he is a little overrated, but an exciting player to watch.

  8. yes he is overrated , he is only mentioned because he had six kick off returns in a season

  9. Overpaid? Yes. Overrated? Not really, because most only see him as a Return man. You are right that a return man shouldn't be paid that much. They tried him as a Cornerback and he couldn't do it. He wasn't much better as a WR last year. For Chicago's sake I hope he gets better somewhere.

  10. Is he overrated?  Absolutely not.  As a kick returner, he's better at what he does than anybody's ever been at what they do.  Two years into his career, he's only two touchdowns away from breaking a record that took Brian Mitchell 14 years to set?  When teams would rather kick out of bounds for a sure penalty than put the ball in your hands and risk a touchdown, you're not overrated.

What your question should be, considering his contract, is whether Hester is overpaid.  The answer to that is undoubtedly yes.  He's done nothing as a receiver, and his total contract could reach the same dollar amount as Larry Fitzgerald.  That's ridiculous, and not the way that Bears play-by-play man Jeff Joniak refers to Devin.

  11. i agree with both of you...mybe if he had better WR play.....but the bears really need him to stay so....

  12. Not overrated as a return man. He is great. Not overrated as a reciever. Everyone knows he is average at best. Now if you are asking if he is over paid. The answer is yes.

  13. Me too. Maybe if he was a better WR
