  1. I agree with you on this one, equality in my eyes would mean a collapse of society.. I don't mean only certain people should be allowed to vote etc. I simply mean that without no heirachy from bin men to politians we would have a very strange society. I think a heirarchy creates respect, and without respect the level of discrimination would increase.

  2. You don't say what kind of discrimination you are referring to. Do you mean racial discrimination? Discrimination against women? Discrimination toward little people, Asians, immigrants etc. etc.

In those cases, the answer is a definite "no".

But being discriminating in the choices you make in life is always good. Not all choices are equal. For instance, some colleges are better than others. Some careers are more suited to you than others. It's wise to be discriminating about the people you hang out with. That to me, is using discrimination to your advantage.

  3. a morally stable human, that recognizes that all humans are ONE RACE will obviously say discrimination is NOT good.

  4. I don't think discrimination is in any way a good thing. It's a terrible thing. People who think that it is a good thing have never been truly discriminated against, they're the ones doing the discriminating. There's nothing good about breaking a person down, making them feel like they are worthless, or telling them that there are people out there who are better than them and always be better than them no matter how hard they work. I believe in equality and for standing up for people who can't stand up for themselves. I'm tired of people looking down on others just because they don't have as much money, are a different gender or come from a different ethnic background.

  5. Nobody can truly be equal.

  6. completely agree..do you remeber what Orwell said?

  7. Discrimination is never good...because it depends on one thing alone whether YOU are the discriminator or the discriminated!  However, there is a societal hierarchy, and it does feel much better to be at the top of that as opposed to the bottom of the pile.  So, equality is a noble quest.

  8. Prejudice is *always* bad.  It's judging *before* you have any information

upon which to judge.  Judgment *without* data.

Discrimination, on the other hand, has no reference to time.  It means

simply to make a judgment.  To choose.  Not *necessarily* to pre-judge.

Prejudice is bad.  It stinks.  And furthermore, it is stupid.  I mean, it

is really dumb to make decisions based on stuff you *don't* know.  But

discrimination is not bad.  It *can* be bad, certainly.  If you hire

someone using the criteria of skin colour, for instance, that is bad.  It

is discrimination based on an *irrelevant* criterion, not a relevant one.

    Thus, it is prejudice.

Prejudice is always bad.  Discrimination is neither

good nor bad except in reference to the *criteria* and the *situation*.

And if the criteria are irrelevant, then the discrimination is also prejudice.

    Flower is general, Rose is

specific.  A Rose is a Flower.  But all flowers are not roses!  Prejudice

is discrimination, a special sort.  But all discrimination is not prejudice!

You discriminate every day!  When you order

one thing at a restaurant instead of another, you're discriminating on

taste, a relevant characteristic in that situation

    now judge abt discrimination

But there is no excuse for

    prejudice.
