Question:

Is disk space related to computer speed? ?

My computer is really slow, and I'm wondering if it has anything to do with how much space on the c drive is being used. Currently, my 37.2 gb capacity (that's really small, isn't it?) is almost completely filled up and I only have 2.79 gb of free space left. I don't even know how I filled that much space up, but do you think if I somehow cleared it up a bit, my computer would run faster? Is it bad to only have 2 gb of free space? My computer's really slow - the intenet, my documents, everything. Do you think this is related to the size of my hard drive? I'd appreciate any help.

  1. Agree with Richard K

Using a registry cleaner can clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some registry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".

Every time you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Registry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically!

There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.

  4. Yes. You should keep about 15 to 35% free. It also depends on your cpu and how much memory you have.

If you don't have enough your computer uses a swap drive (virtual memory-hard drive space to simulate RAM memory).

Clear some space and try alocating/making a dedicated swap file. 2 to 3x your actual memory.

  5. The point at which you're in is affected by the hard drive space. I would suggest either getting a portable hard drive (I've got one that is 250GB for $100) which is not a bad deal. Once you have at least 80GB of storage space (which is today's minimum), I would recommend purchasing at least 1GB of RAM (Random Access Memory) which helps increase the overall speed of your computer. A year ago, this would have cost $40.

An alternative: Buy a cheap laptop from Wal-Mart and upgrade as you need to.

    I hope this helped.

  6. Your PC should have programs to clean up disk space. System mechanics or a disk clean-up program to free up space. I am always tidying mine up.
