I am working for a call center and 'am 12th pass. I am planning to continue my studies in disctance learning mode, but 'am bit confused whether this kind of education would be helpful in building up my career.

I am planning to pursue BCA via disctance learning scheme from ICFAI. Is this is okay???

If possible please provide me with some information about disctance learning its merits and demerits.

  2. considering good institution

                                its not a bad idea

  3. I do an Open University degree which is studied from home.

    Positives:

I dont have to cut hours at work to attend college/uni

I can do it in my own time to fit around commitments

No social/peer pressure from other students

I can go at my own pace and reread things and look things up without it disrupting a 'class'

Good online facilities so you dont feel alone!

    Negatives:

-Difficult to get in touch with tutors sometimes.

-Doesnt always feel 'personalised' when you do chat to tutors

-you have to be organised and strict with yourself

But overall I am enjoying it and know I wouldnt be doing a degree if it was for OU!

PS: If you get degree and an employer/interviewer its too impressed atit being distance learning you could always turn it into a positive and say that you got the degree and life/career experience at the same time...you arent a uni student who's had 3 years of partying and no commitments :)

  4. distance learning is a good idea if you do not have time to attend the class at a stretch. In spite of the fact that most big companies do not considerthe distance learnng programes for their recruits, a person with solid base of knowlege can proove him/herself in this way too.

  5. Its a good idea to cojntinue education thru distance mode.Perfectly as U willnot be a burden to ur family, U can earn n study at the same times, U know ur responsibilities nad duties, U can know time management.

But Its not better than Full time if ur capable enough in financial and mental and academic point of view.

  6. Honestly saying am an distance learning student after completing my +2th std. Now am on my final year bcom bank management and about to appear for my examinations on this june. Indeed it would help me because while you pursue your UG by Dist. learning, u can also go for CA,ICWA or ACS parallelly. You have got plenty of Sources available after completing the bcom dist learning and any of the above said courses. But i would prefer you to work for a firm which is relevant to your bca or any arts category. So that you can show your experience after finishing your ug as you are acquired something.

    Thanks

  7. I Seriously dont know how the industry rates the degree earned through distance education but i guess its a good idea. Though not as good as studying it full time...
