I want to stay home with my kids but also want to make a little money would doing a paper route be worth it? Can u take mileage off at the end of year taxes? If so is that JUST for doing the paper route or would driveing some like like a close town about 5 miles away also count?

  1. Mileage on your car while driving your route should be tax deductible.

Mileage commuting to work (I.E.: driving to a nearby town to begin your route) is NOT deductible, according to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Is it worth it? If you ride a bike instead of drive, you will save on gas (but no tax deduction, except maybe for the initial cost of the bike and the basket for holding the papers) and you will get some exercise.
