Question:

Is doing the frog position sapose to hurt, and how do you go it properly??? PLEASE HELP EASY 10 pointes?

so to help my turnout i do the frog position. i have seen my instucture do it, but it really hurts me, and im afraid that i might really hurt myself, my teacher says its okay to do at home, and i really want to but i just think i may be doing it wrong. please tell me how it is sapose to be done, and even if there are any other ways to improve my turnout, and does anyone know how long it will take until my turnout really improves?

  1. The turn-out for ballet comes at first through natural bone structure. If your hips are not naturally open then your turn-out will naturally be worse.

    However there are stretches like the frog to improve your turn out. since your hips are not naturally turned out then the stretch will hurt. When you do the frog stretch put a pillow over your feet so that they begin to lower.

    Also you HAVE to be relaxed and BREATHING. If you dont your muscles will contract and you will become less flexible. There is another stretch called capet which is like frog but your feet are flexed and both legs are at a 90 degree angle like a goal post. then you try to push your weight into your glutts.

    If you do this or frog with a pillow three times a day for at least one minute and a half each time then you should have the best turn out your bone structure will allow in less then two months


  2. its like siting in butterfly, but on ur back. yes it inproves. i just did it yesterday.

  3. It really depands on your hips. I have hereditary turned out hips, so it doesn't hurt me at all, but most of the other girls at my studio it hurts. The frog position will really help with turnout, so just breath deeply. It is like any other uncomfortable stretch. You are fine, good job!
