Doing such things in any case is illegal. Specially Music industry is very noisy about law.

But if you download from youtube by using any source for personal purpose then not a big deal though it is still illegal.

Unfortunately,yes.

Luckily,if you are downloading directly from youtube,it's impossible for anyone to catch you because it isn't monitored.

It's a little more dangerous if you're using a P2P service,but I download from YouTube all the time.There is no leftover evidence,and no one honestly cares.
