Question:

Is dream interpretation witchcraft?

I've studied psychology and specialized in dream interpretation. Although I'm Buddhist, I've always been interested in Christianity (if only they weren't so judgmental). In my interpretation of dreams, though, I'm told by a Christian friend that its witchcraft. Is it? How so?

  1. No it is not. Your friend is mistaken.

    Witchcraft is something entirely different.

  2. Well, lets see here. I will not criticize Buddhism. It isn't witchcraft to try and understand your dreams or other people's dreams. Not all Christians are extremely judgmental. But anyway, it is not witchcraft. :)

  3. No, it's long been accepted by psychologists as a means of figuring out your life

  4. no, that's not witchcraft, in the old testament many prophets and not only could interpret dreams, like joseph, the difference is, they used it to do good, witchcraft, on the other hand is used to do bad.

there are only 2 places where you could get "magic powers" from: god or the devil. the ones that get it from the devil use it for selfish purposes and like to show off, whereas the ones that get it from god use it for good and are very very discrete about it

  5. I am a Christian and I say your friend needs help. Ask her what Joseph did to get out of prison...yep dream interpretation!

  6. Witchcraft has to do with magic, dream interpretation is just what it says it is...dream interpretation.

  7. No, it's not witchcraft.  Your Christian friend is sorely mistaken. Her own Bible includes examples of righteous people, God's own people, interpreting dreams.  The two most famous examples are Joseph in the book of Genesis, who interpreted the Pharaoh's dreams, and the prophet Daniel, who interpreted Nebuchadnezzar's dreams.

Dream interpretation is a very mundane thing, as you know from your studies in psychology.  Dreams are just thoughts in pictorial form, and understanding them is no more witchcraft than understanding one's waking thoughts.

Dark: with respect, you are mistaken concerning witches and witchcraft.  As a subset of religious practices, witchcraft is often used for purposes of healing and blessing, not unlike prayer in Christianity.  A person can use witchcraft of malicious ends, just like a person might pray for the swift destruction of an enemy, but to say that witchcraft is used for evil ends is to malign those people who use it to no such ends.

  8. aparantly you are very very judgmental of judgmental people

why dont you work on that

and why dont you read the oldtestament and Joseph and his imterpretation of the pharoes dreams

that turned out pretty good for Joseph

or you could see the play with Donny Osmand.

Why dont you try working on being less judgmental in the next life OK kid.

Your freind is not a christian she is Probably a fundementalist Idoloter

Budhists understand that the statue is not the God they are not Idoloters and in fact the two religions are almost the same.Buddhists  can see past the symbol.. Most christians worship the father the son and the holy ghost not a book but a living God not stuck in the symbol.

fundementist Idoloters worship the father the son and the bible

your freind  worships a book. Idoloters are the ones who kill first born children and burn witches at stakes.

    NOT CHRISTIANS more like BIBLEtians
