My sis dropped our brand new camera in the sand, at the beach today. It's like malfunctioning. Is it ruined?

  1. You probably got some sand in it. Don't clean it out yourself... you might risk ruining it! Have a professional do it for you. Check your local yellow pages for a camera repair shop.

  2. It may be a minor issue but the only way to find out is to take it to someone to get it repaired.  If it is brand new there may be some insurance coverage.

  3. YES!! I did that too.. the lens wouldn't work, and so i turned it on (my lens wouldnt come out) so i just pulled the lens out REAL hard and it WORKED :) .. there is a complication with the zoom so if anyone knows answer my question! thanks :) I would just take it to a repair shop and get it fixed and or cleaned.. but I heard it can be very expensive!

  4. You might want to take it to the store to have it checked out.

  5. honestly it would be best to drop it in the sand rather than on hard concrete cos and offers a little shock absorption

you may want ti check the lenses and the screen though the sand may have scratched them

for software and hardware problems go to the place where you got it or the brands service centre

  6. Don't try to turn it on and off any more.  You will only make it worse.  Depending on what is wrong, it could get very expensive.  If there is sand in it, it needs to be cleaned.   If there is internal damage, it will cost more.

Call the company and ask if they can give you a rough estimate of how much it could cost to be fixed.  It needs to be done by a professional.  It might cost nearly as much as buying a new one.
