  1. Yes, droughts very rarely occur after natural events and are frequently the cause of overproduction on land.  Remember, the dustbowl was in large part attributable to the introduction of the steel plough and more intensive farming techniques.


  2. Most definitely. Drought is just as influential as bad weather when it comes to affecting our economy. When there is no rain, crops cannot grow, which means farmers make less money, which gives less money to the state government, which causes the nation as a whole to suffer. If the drought is excessively widespread, results can be catastrophic and food shortages can result. Once it is dry, a cycle begins.  1)The air becomes dry and takes alot to moisten it

    2) When rain comes it doesn't reach the ground because it has to resaturate the dry air.

    3)Dust bowl conditions are created, and this leads to economic strain, as well as water shortages, which can also be critical, (of course we all use water every day), but water is also used by almost every company for various reasons. Lack of water, affects the economy as much as lack of crops, and these are both directly related to drought.

  4. Yes, it definitely is.  If crops fail then - in extreme cases - the economy of the country can collapse with it.

  6. Almost certainly. Agriculture needs water as does all industry and residential areas do too.

    Water can be brought in from other places (ie Las Vegas) but this is expensive and affects the economy
