  1. Dry food has always been better for their teeth and overall dental health. Wet food, leaves more bacteria on the teeth and in the mouth, that will probably cause some serious dental problems in the dog, if the dogs teeth are not taken care of and brushed on a regular schedule.

  2. Not really. Dry food gets stuck inbetween your dog's teeth. Plus canned food is easier to digest and palatable. The only reason I don't feed mostly canned is because of the pricing. I's expensive for a reason! However with canned, the water neutralizes the vitamins in it so you will have to feed more. Since I can't feed canned too much I feed raw beef ribs to get rid of all those kibble stains on his teeth. I do the same with my cat, only she gets boneless(not ground) beef used for stew and stir-fry

  3. Yes. It Makes Their p**p More Solid

  4. I have heard that dry food alone can put stress on a dog's kidneys because it is harder to digest due to the lack of moisture.  And even though your dog should always have clean/fresh water available, it is stated that a dog doesn't always drink enough water to get the moisture/hydration he needs.

Also, dry food is more well-balanced and nutritious than canned food since canned food does not contain as much nutrients as the dry food.  So, it is recommended both to get the balance of nutrients and moisture in your dog's diet, that you mix dry kibble with canned food.

I have also heard that dry kibbles is better for a dog's dental health.  However, the only real way to keep your dog's teeth and gums healthy is to brush daily, so giving mixed wet and dry food shouldn't hurt a dog's teeth if you are brushing daily.

I would recommend Wellness Core dry food mixed with Wellness 95% chicken canned food.  It is a healthy, grain-free diet.  Human grade ingredients, high quality protein with wholesome fruits and veggies.  No by-products, fillers, corn, soy, wheat, glutens or cancerous preservatives like BHA, BHT and ethoxyquin.  My dogs love this food and they are thriving on it.  Also, I would recommend daily brushing with dog toothpaste for healthy teeth and gums.  All it takes is 3 minutes of your day to add quality years to your dog's life.

  5. cooked foods in a kibble if grain based are very bad for dogs IMO.

the ones that have not grains are a little better.  The canned is better if no grains or preservatives.

But overall a raw meaty bone diet is way better, p**p volume is less, much less smelly p**p because it is digested better.  Better coat, teeth, even behaviour can improve.

  6. in most cases, yes. Dried dog food normally has more balanced nutrients, and also, is a lot easier on the bowels.

However, if the dog is a puppy, it is good to start them off with wet dog food.

  7. Dry food is better for dog's teeth, because it encourages them to chew.

  8. There is no consensus on whether dry food or wet food is healthier, because people from either supplier will tell you different things to sell their product.

The only facts are that dry food is better for the dental health of the dog, wet food contains more fat, dry food diets require a lot of extra water for your dog, and given a choice, dogs will go for wet food over dry food.  I think that dry food gets to be very boring for dogs, so the best choice would be to mix wet and dry food together, which will keep your dog's teeth healthy while giving him a reason to enjoy the food.
