Question:

Is dry slope skiing any good?

I live in England, and now it's the summer I'm really missing skiing!!!

I was looking around the internet, and found dry slope skiing. I want to know if it is anything like real skiing :P.

I'm a pretty advanced skier, and I don't want to be dissappointed having done quite a bit of skiing before. Can you still practice technique and stuff on dry slope skiing, or is it just dissappointing? Do they generally have a variety of different slopes for different proficiency skiers?

Also, are snowdomes any good? I heard they are more like proper skiing.

Thanks in advance for your answers!!! I really want to know if it's worth me giving it a go!!!

  1. I did a lot of dry slope skiing when I first started skiing and I found it really good for learning technique, but I'm sure I'd find it really boring now.  The snow dome is appealing but I think I'd miss the scenery, altitude, and atmosphere too much.

  2. hey so do i i know what you mean i snowboard and skate though do NOT go to a dry ski slope they are horrible just save up and go to the snowdome because they have real snow

    good luck

  3. Save your money, come to Banff.  We're STILL skiing!!

  4. Dry slope skiing is MUCH harder than real skiing, I had a friend who had learned to ski on dry slopes and he was fairly good on them. I went on holiday with him skiing, it was his first time on snow, and on his second day he was going down steep Black runs, because he said it was so much easier. If you are going to an artificial skiing place, go to the snowdomes, they are much better and they have real snow, although they can become a bit monotonous and un challenging, looking at your level of ability.
