  1. lol, no, they are definatly solid particles, it's just like if you have sugar, they are solid, only not linked together. The only reason they float is because they perhaps have a low mass, and that's all...

  2. its a solid

  3. It is a solid, in colloidal state, a solid aerosol

  4. my dictionary says:

    –noun

    1. earth or other matter in fine, dry particles. (particles of earth.... well the earth is solid, and its dry...)

    2. a cloud of finely powdered earth or other matter in the air. (Dirt and matter... even if its powder its solid. though.. cloud... maybe a gas)

    3. any finely powdered substance, as sawdust.(to me the word Substance feels solid. As sawdust... sawdust is not a gas... you can hold it in your hand and feel the texture..)

    4. the ground; the earth's surface. (Theres the word Earth again)

    5. the substance to which something, as the dead human body, is ultimately reduced by disintegration or decay; earthly remains. (um.... gross...)

    6. British. (.... why is this on here? and I'd like to think that its solid...)

as i recall in science class things go from solid to liquid to gass... or Gas to liquid to solid...dust doesn't do this.. dust just collects on surfaces... and makes one sneeze...

  5. Solid

Just because it is tiny doesn't make it any less of a solid.

  6. no its a solid bcoz firstly we call it dust particles. we never say particles of air, we say particles in the air thus it is a solid. and secondly i had learnt that dust is a solid it just propogates by means of air. bcoz of this u and ur sci. teacher may b confused about it

  7. Dust particles are solid. They are tiny bits of dirt, dead insects, dead skin cells, pollen, etc. Dust CAN be suspended in air, but the individual particles are still solid.

  8. Dust, although is very thin, is still a solid.

The easiest way to explain is that if u could breath in dust, then it is a gas.

  9. Where did your science teacher get his teaching degree from lol

Its a solid, just like sand or flour is a solid.... just because its very fine doesn't mean its not a solid.

Most of the dust in your home is from dead human skin. Just in case you were wondering lol

  10. dust is a solid.. duh! lol. it comes from sand, the fine particles in sand. Sand is not a gas.

  11. lololololo solid

  12. 'Dust is a general name for minute solid particles with diameters less than 500 micrometers.'

That was on Wikipedia so tell you science teacher that!

  13. solid, dust is made up of dirt and old skin cells and junk, but, it is floating in a gas.

  14. dust is an itty bitty itty super tiny solid matter

they say it's gas because they jugde it in their naked EYES!!

but the truth is dust is solid

    try using microscope

  15. Solid since it collects on the floor and furniture.  While a gas fills the vacuum of a room, whereas the dust does not.  It settles to the ground.

Technically a colloid, darn someone beat me to it.

  16. its a solid! its just so small that it floats & get picked up into the air!^__^ hope this helps!

  17. Dust, whomever thinks its a gas is a dumbasss. Its just very small particles of a larger SOLID. So definitely solid.

  18. Its a colloid - a mixture of one substance(dust - a solid) evenly dispersed in another(air - a gas).  It may also be considered a  "Solid Aerosol"

  19. solid
