  1. It's un-vegan.  But fine for vegitarians.

  2. Yes and no.

The original definition of "vegetarian" used in the USA and UK included the eating of eggs and dairy.

Hindu vegetarians (from India) traditionally consider eggs "non-veg" but consider dairy products okay.

Vegans don't use eggs or dairy.

  3. Peaches Rose is right.  Laying hens are treated terrible...even the "Cage Free" kind.  And, once they cannot produce any more eggs, they are slaughtered.  By eating eggs, you are contributing to that factory farming process.  Just a fact.

  4. I think it is because it is developing into a chick and has animal cells. Personally, I don't eat egg and do not consider it to be vegetarian.

  5. it should be considering how eating eggs contributes to the terrible lives of chickens. see look at this:

"Laying hens have their beaks cut off in order to cut down on pecking, which is a result of overcrowding. Behavioral and neurophysiological observations give indirect signs that the beak-trimming of pullets brings on pain which persists for weeks or possibly even months.  The birds are also forced to molt at the end of their laying cycles in order to shock their bodies into another egg-laying cycle. Starving hens for up to eighteen days, denying them water, and forcing them to stay in the dark are all involved in this process. Commonly, between five and ten percent of the birds die and the birds may loose twenty-five percent or more of their body weight during this cycle ("Food Animal Info."

    1-3)."

in other words. if you care a lot about cruelty to chickens you shouldn't eat eggs. BUT, eating eggs as everyone else has said, is not considered un-vegetarian.

  6. An ovo-lacto vegetarian can consume dairy and egg products. That would be your category!

  7. no

  8. Fine for vegetarians, but not for vegans.

Vegans eat no animal products, but if you are a vegetarian, then you just don't eat the animals. Eggs are fine to consume.

  9. Eat RSPCA approved free range eggs. They are much nicer to the chickens.

  10. It all depends on what kind of vegetarian you are - vegan, ovo-lacto, etc.  An ovo-lacto vegetarian can consume dairy and egg products.

  11. eggs are fine. not meat and not killed. the eggs you buy in the store are not yet fertalized and DO NOT have an embryo in them like people think. I am vegitarian and i eat eggs.

  12. It's un-vegan.
