Is eating meat kinda like being a cannibal?

Question

Maybe that's to much. Some days I'm not sure which is worse, how slaughter houses kill their animals, or the fact some one is willing to eat something DEAD? I personally think the idea of putting something dead in your system is just well plain sick...I wanna know your opinion on which is worse.

So, plants aren`t dead when you eat them, and to jordan s. humans ARE omnivores.

I have worked in a slaughter house and I still eat barbecue two-three times per week.  Stove top meat the other 18 meals.

Kinda

We are all earthlings and the animals we eat are extremely similar to us.

They experience the same feelings and share tons of physical and behavioral traits.

Especially the cows, pigs & sheep, which are even mammals just like us.

And I know what you mean ... it really, truly seems like we shouldn't be eating them, and we certainly shouldn't be torturing, killing and eating them ... which is what we're currently doing.

When I see meat laid out in the grocery store, it seems like the same as if it were my grandmother or at least the same as the family cat.  In other word, it's gross.  However, not everyone is ready to be vegetarian.  I know I have plenty of faults, so I try to avoid making judgements.  On the other hand, I also avoid the meat section of the grocery store.

Look under a microscope, and you'll see that a glass of water contains MILLIONS of God's creatures.

It's a good thing that God put animals on the Earth for us to eat.

I occasionally eat clams on the half shell, and they are alive. It doesn't seem to make much difference.

Whatever you eat, if it is alive when you swallow it, it will soon be dead anyhow. Stomach acid disintegrates tofu pretty thoroughly.

No it is not because cannibalism is consumption of the same species. While many animals including humans have and do practice cannibalism, it is now generally regarded as immoral and illegal for humans to do so. However, some remote tribes in Papua New Guinea and Borneo still indulge in it occasionally.

Food as eaten by humans, meat and veggies except fresh fruit, are already dead. Even die hard vegetarians don't munch off a tree or a bush. And cooking will definitely kill any living thing including bacteria.

What do you think would be worse. Eating cows meat when it dead and cooked, or eating it raw while its living. I find the image of eating something alive disturbing. btw its the circle of life,,,get used to it

i am on both sides as well.

you wouldnt eat it alive, so why dead?

also, if you think about it, humans ARE animals.

you wouldnt eat your brother, or your dog, would you?

i don't put animals on the same level as humans. if i had to choice to let a dog or a human live i would pick the human, god put us over animals but i don't think that means we get to treat them cruelly. i believe they have the same right to live just as much as we do and shouldn't be killed to simply satisfy our tastbuds. if animals died of natural causes and someone wanted to eat the corpse by all means they can go ahead, i think its disgusting in my opinion but it wouldn't be harming anything.

Eating meat is nothing like being a cannibal, except for the fact that you're eating animal flesh. Cannibalism is specific to eating the flesh of your own species.

I think the way that slaughterhouses treat their animals is worse. Plants, humans, and other animals have eaten dead stuff for as long as death has existed. I mean, think about it. If nothing ate dead plant and animal matter, none of us would be alive. The world would have been choked with the corpses of plants and animals centuries ago.

What DO you eat?  Do you eat only live plants, that stay alive in your digestive system?  Isn't it more cruel to eat something that's still alive?  Or, do you eat only plants that have died of natural causes?
