Is ebay a good source?

I wanna buy something off ebay but I dont know much about it like can they steal my credit,

and also can people sell broken stuff because I dont want anything that dosnt work and if I do buy something broken what can I do

You should carefully check the seller feedback and see if there is any. In general, I do not buy from people that has less than 50 in feedback. If the item is expensive 300+ I prefer to use sellers with good reputation and own domain name etc. Don't pay with money orders, checks, wire transfers - use only credit card. You can also pay for goods using Paypal - it has buyer protection as well (for 2 months).
