Is economic imperialism a major factor in immigration?

Look at colombia. The U.S. supports their corrupt government, funds their paramillitary death squads and spreads propaganda against any sort of resistance (FARC). The same time happens in other latin american countries including Mexico, where most "illegal" immigrants come from. The fact is, maybe the American Government does not do these things to bring immigration, but they certainly have a hand in illegal immigration. I can't stand it when some politician says they must stop illegal immigration and the drug trade. Please!!! The United States benefits big time from the drug trade, cheap manufacturing costs in other countries, and illegal immigration. So any of them who says they want to stop it is a barefaced liar, or just wants fame (tom tancredo).

Well rant time is over.

  1. No not economic imperialism.

Try open markets and free trade.

    Be that as it may......

Nonetheless you are disavowing the personal responsibility and accountability of the illegal aliens themselves.

No one holds a gun to Pedros head and says "you are coming to America to mow lawns, buddy."

Illegal alien criminals are 100% responsible for their own choices in the matter as well.

Regardless of the role of the US govt (they own 100% of their own share of blame as well).......you cant ignore everyone who has fault in this.

And the criminals themselves have fault in this as well.

  2. you are absolutely right. i like how you use the term economic imperialism, which is what is happening today.

which makes me sick is that when "illegal" (i also like your quotes around this word) immigrants start to ask for rights, they get a kick in the ***, and theyre told that they dont deserve anything. this is how the US commits Human Rights violations...

  3. The government may want illegals but the American people do not!!! And I really do not see how you can say America benefits big from the drug trade, how ridiculous is that when we lose thousands of people from young kids to adults to overdoses or bad drugs. How is that a benefit, how about the millions of dollars the States use every year for rehab and detox programs. Just like illegals costing this country billions. Report and Deport all their nasty @sses!!

  4. Immigrants don't move to other country by their will alone. Let me  describe you the situation of a typical Mexican farmer.

He gets up at 4 am in the morning walks through the mountain 2 hours then works until 8 pm and then heads back, and he can expect the minimum wage which in Mexico is about 7...dollars a day.

So, their life is already h**l on earth, it can not be worse. Therefore they don't mind risking their lives crossing the river, the desert, avoid the border patrol, or being shot.

I don't expect you to understand it because you haven't been in a similar situation and you don't care anyway, I just felt to tell you this.

People usually like where they were born, even if its a dry desert, but if you have nothing to eat you are forced to move. You don't need a gun pointed at you.

  5. Sure. Free trade is causing this.

When you a large nation like say China, the US, has a free-trade agreement with another... smaller nation say Sierra Leone or Morrocco that countries home-made products usually suffer due to foreign, cheaper good. Causing unemployment which may lead to illegal immigration.

  6. No need to quote the word illegal. Mexicans who cross the U.S. border without permission are illegally entering this country and thus are violating our sovereignty. They should be dealt with accordingly.
