  1. It depends if you like descriptive subjects or analytical ones.  Bus Mgt is mostly descriptive.  "What is personnel management?"  "What is project planning?"  "Who makes decisions about new products?"  "What is the difference between marketing and market research?"  That kind of thing.  You read books and learn the answers; maybe visit a few companies.

If it's taught properly, economics asks you to explain the workings of the worlds of wealth and welfare.  It asks questions that require you to be able to use theories, charts and numbers.  You get such questions as, "What does government do with all the tax it raises?"  "When food prices are rising, why do potato sales also rise?"  "Why is the value of the British pound rising against the US dollar but falling against the Euro?"  "Why is it that some successful companies suddenly find themselves going bankrupt?".

If it's taught properly, economics is more intersting and asks broader questions.  It requires you to link together lots of other subjects such as psychology, history, arithmetic, politics.

I'd go for economics but the quality of the teaching is crucial.

  2. management classes are better, econ is boring.  management is boring too, but less so.

  3. It totally depends on you and your interests. I think most management courses are fairly common sense, and tend to put fancy names to concepts that you already know (or could figure out if in the situation). Econ should teach you how to think a different way, and how to solve problems. It may seem very theoretical, but if you really look at it, econ is logical and can be applied to many different situations you will encounter.
