I suggest that we go BACK to "OLD SCHOOL" when Teachers ACTUALLY TAUGHT. There was Once a time when Education was taught both from the Head and the Heart. They Captured the Minds, and the Students Thrived and could not get enough of it; Education is POWER, it is a Key that unlocks many doors.

  1. Real education,yes.http://www.deliberatedumbingdown.com/

  2. Education in the sense that we know it today is not worth a hill of beans.  A diploma is barely worth the paper it is printed on.  The real value is the knowledge that is gained obtaining the diploma, and on average schools are lowering the bar and passing more people when they don't actually know the material.  They just want the tuition or the government funds.  It is all about the money.  It is no longer about the students, the future, or society as a whole.  It is sad.

  3. To answer your question-yes! But the current system is based on the need to meet government standards not the education of our children. Teachers today do not have time to truly teach except in the sense to prepare the kids for the next standardized test. What a pity, the government intiatives have, in a sense, all children being left behind.

  4. Alas, Uncle Phil, I fear that this country will have to crash before people get it that our educational system has failed not only our children but our society.  Look at the lack of knowledge of history displayed in the politics forum here.

Although I did notice today a Brit spelling a plural with an apostrophe (my pet peeve) like some silly American.  So maybe it's a worldwide phenomenon.
