  1. It depends on how the power plant is generating electricity.

Most electricity in the US comes from coal-fired power plants, which are nonrenewable.

  2. the question is, are the sources nonrenewable?

For now, yes. Half the US grid is coal-fired plants.

coal, oil, gas, and nuclear used to make electricity are nonrenewable.

eth and biofuels burned to make electric are renewable but I don't like them.

Solar and wind are the best, renewable, always available, not leaving anytime soon.

    So, sometimes.

  3. no it's not renewable!!! when it runs out we'll lose precious resources

  4. Electricity is as renewable as the source of energy used to generate it.

  5. Electricity is an energy carrier (or secondary form of energy).

If its source is renewable then it is renewable (and only then).

If its source is a fossil fuel then it is probably non sustainable in the long term. This is for example the case of coal, oil and natural gas which were formed over millions of years and which we can deplete within centuries.

I would add moreover a condition in the specific case of biomass generated electricity: it has to come from a source exploited in a sustainable manner. We could use the entire forests of the world to produce electricity but if we cut trees faster than they grow, it is renewable and non sustainable... so problematic.

  6. If you have a bucket full of water and you throw it over your friend , not only will you lose a friend but you will lose a bucket full of water!   You can fill the bucket up again from the mains, and have another go, if your friend stands still long enough.

Electricity used in a rechargeable battery  means the battery can be recharged using more electricity from the mains.

We cant even store any real amount of electricity for a very long time never mind some how catch the stuff we use and use it again.  But if you can figure out a way of doing that, then you will make a lot of money.
