i entered this contest to win a truck in august 2007 , and i just got a call 2 nights ago saying that i won a contest and i got to choose from 5 different prizes which were a $6000 home theatre system, 2 oilers tickets, a 7 day cruise to mexico, a $75 gift cirtificate, and something else.but we had to sit through a 90 min presentation then at the end we would receive our prize. which seemed really weird because if i won i should just pick it up and away i go not sit there for a presentation. i was just wondering if anyone has any comments on it or if it happened to anyone else?????? thank you!

  1. Ask them to send you the fine print on claiming your prize.... That "$6000 home theatre system" might be from a drop shipper that's going to charge you $2000 and it's something you could get at Walmart for $1500... Where is the $75 gift certificate good at? How much are the taxes/fees on the cruise? etc...

Like lee says, it WILL be a high pressure sales pitch. And it's going to be for something you'll never use enough to make it worth your while, but get the fine print before you commit AND tell your saleperson right off the bat you're not buying... Wear a watch and at EXACTLY 90 minutes, stand up, collect your prize... and leave!

  2. This is typical for some companies.  They offer you incentives to come in and sit through a sales presentation which is sometimes VERY high pressure.  They will attempt to get you to purchase their products, many are time shares or vacation clubs.    At the end of the 90 minutes..you will get your prize.

Beware...sounds like a wide array of potential prizes...home theater systems...7 days cruise...and 75 dollar gift certificate....  which one do you think they will choose to give you?
