Question:

Is engine "lock up" the only reason a crankshaft won't turn manually on 04' dodge 2.7?

was passing another vehicle..heard a slapping noise i/e sm belt about 1000 yd before engine chugged once and died. Serpentine is intact. Engine will not turn over . Son tried to turn the crankshaft but could not. I bought new battery.

  1. would be a good bet the motor is gone


  2. Sounds like timing belt broke and valves hit the pistons.

  3. The dodge 2.7L engine is the biggest mistake ever designed. They are known for oil problems and fail before 100K usually.  

  4. that would probably be the engine,the transmission in some cases has caused this too happen ,but very few times,it sounds like it broke a rod and locked up,good luck.
