  1. There are different areas of autism.  Some autistic individuals are fluent in speech. Most avoid any type of interpersonal connection.  Just like intellegence levels though some autistic people are high level and some are low. I have been taught to emerse autistic children in all types of language for them to develop the most normalized language. This would include spoken language as well as print ( labels on everything and anything) as well as using books and also incorporate signing.Even music is effective. Although the individuals are not or may not have a hearing issue, people with autism are believed by some to have like a system overload. Like talking on a static filled phone line, they only get bits and pieces of info.

    As I said all cases are individual and some have fluent language while most have language problems.
