is episiotomy and fetal breech presentation can be considered as a part of a "Normal human Labor (or Childbirth) process" ?

For me episiotomy and fetal breech presentation is not a part of a "Normal human Labor (or Childbirth) process".

please i want to hear your personal opinion in my question above. and please support your answer why is it normat or not.

I was ask to research on the topic of "Normal human Labor (or Childbirth) process" in our Nursing class

  1. Breech is a natural, but not normal, condition.  They almost never deliver those babies from below where I work.

    Episiotomy is not natural, but for some OBs, it may be considered normal.  What is normal is for the vaginal wall to rip.  Both require repair after delivery.  Tears can be so severe as to go through the a**s (fourth degree).  THERE is a topic for your presentation!

    The OBs where I work now don't usually do an epis unless there is a very good reason to get the baby out more quickly (like FHR decelerations with pushing)


  2. episiotomies I seem to recall were found to cause much more damage than they were supposed to relieve. I dont think they are done as often as they once were.

  3. Breach is normal. Episiotomy is a good substitute for perineal tear.
