  1. gas is cheap because the price of a gallon isn't a real price.  the cost of transportation, extraction, exploration, and health effect to humans and the environment are all off-set by govt. subsidize.  Ethanol is cheaper. Cellulosic ethanol is the cheapest of the ethanol family.  it doesn't drive up corn prices for human/livestock consumption and is abundant everywhere.  look up switch grasses and see where the future of our energy consumption is heading (hopefully!).  just need to get the govt on board.

  2. NO. plus, it causes more polutin to make ethonal, than using gas. however, if you are considereing buying a car that uses ethonal, i would because they work with both, and in about 80, experts predict that most gas will be ethanol

  4. Yes because they have "full curcle" ethanol plants with an output of about 30 units of ethanol to 1 unit of energy, normaly you get about 1 to2, you may not see a difference but it is cheaper, and has a higher octane level and you can get better feul economy

  8. To answer your questions a some remarks, No ethanol is not cheaper for a few reasons.

    1) It still takes a truck to get it to a plant that uses energy to make the product

    2) When the government mad the push for it the 2%ers had the info long before that and were in the spot to take control of the market and make a killing in money.

and more but just follow the money cost of flour and such and it will answer the questions.

Now for a statement i spotted in this like that diesel is cheaper to run, please be informed as the new trucks and buses get about 10 % less mileage that gas in the new format with all the emissions installed so do not think that is the answer.

  9. In central WI ethanol at 10% is cheaper than gasoline. It has a bit less energy per gallon so it needs to be less expensive to break even.

There are blends up to 85% which are considerably less expensive. There are more cars on the road that can use that blend then people are aware of.

  10. There is currently a 50 cent subsidy on every gallon of ethanol.  It is more expensive than gas.

  11. yes but there are very few stations that make it available and then it is only a mixture of ethenal and gas
