Is every 500 goal scorer a hall of famer?

Do you think that is a automatic entrance to the hall of fame?

If so then Recchi, Bondra and Tkachuk gets in ...I am not sure all of them deserve to go in.

Correct me if I am wrong but all who have, have eventually gone into the hall when eligible?

Thoughts and opinions.

  1. If they aren't yet, they should be.

500 goals in the NHL is an impressive milestone. When you figure (for illustration purposes) a career spans around 15 years, a player woiuld have to average 33+ goals yearly over that entire period. That is no small feat at the NHL level.

  2. 500 barely is Hall of Fame worthy, unless you're a defenseman.  And no, not every player that has over 500 goals is in the HHOF.  Dino Ciccarelly has over 600 goals and has still not been voted in.

  3. yes if a players scores five hundred they should be in

  4. No.  Dino Ciccarelli is a 600 goal scorer and he's NOT in the Hall of Fame.  He's been eligible for a few years now.

I do think Dino should be in the HOF, but I don't think 500 goals means what it used to.  I do like Recchi for the HOF though and maybe Tkachuk.

  5. Almost some aren't eligible yet because they're either not retired or haven't been retired long enough.  500 goals isn't really a get it and you're in kind of deal, but if you're good enough to score 500 your probably good enough to get into the hall.

  6. well its maybe cause their gd if they score 500 goals

  7. yes they should go

  8. Even of those who did, not all have made it. Pat Verbeek is not in, and he's certainly eligible having retired in 2002.

I think there are one or two more as well.  However, I think that barring exceptional  circumstances (major arrests, that kind of thing)  anybody who scores 500 should be in. No question.

  9. they dont JUST score 500 goals

but what else they did takes in for account

    500 + Assists + Points = HOF glory

  10. I dont think scoring 500 goals is an automatic entry.  Just look at how many old timers their are. Just a few that retired before 1980.  Most retires after 1980 --which would mean its easier to score goals than in the past.  A lot of these guys have longevity on their side  which me personally I never thought would be a sole  characteristic of the Hall of Fame.  After all if you average 30 goals a year for 16 1/2 years you would be at the 500 mark--not that thats not good but its not GREAT.
