I am an NRI living with my family in the gulf, one of my family member out of sheer stupidity, enclosed 2 bills of $100 in an envelope and posted it to India by ordinary post ! Of course, the letter was received in India but minus the $200 !!

What happened ?? What shall I do?? I admit sending money this way is illegal !!! But still, I would like to know where my money disappeared ??

  1. yes all letters are from and to will be screened and money will not sent trough envelopes.we want to follow some postal rules and support postal dept

  2. In your case, you don't have any recourse open to you - absolutely no! Each and every packet / envelop is subject to screening / checking in all the countries of the world under their respective customs laws and India is no exception. This applies to both Inward and outward packets / envelops sent by government post or private couriers.

You may be interested to know that out of sheer curiosity, some of my acquaintances have done this kind of tricks in the past. And the results have been mixed in India as well as in some of the most advanced countries of the World.

There is every possibility that your $ 200 might have found their way out of the envelop in your own country (in the gulf) and you just came to know that they were missing when the envelop got opened by the addressee in India.

    Learn from your mistakes!!

  3. As a matter of fact u cant Chase ur Money.

It is clearly mentioned in the Postal law that

" we are not responsible of any currency r valueable in the packet"

For get which is lost use Western Union to tranfer

  4. Never send MONEY in envelopes.  Even though it is Registered there is no guaranted.  Everyone is craze is taking the cash and enjoy. Hence, do not repeat.  Take this as a lesson in your life.

  5. go and ask in the post office and report a complaint abnout this issue...
