  1. I have never heard of "explosive convection" in meteorology. This video is a nice fast-motion view of a towering cumulus that may end up in a thunderstorm. But I fail to see why this one is different from other such convections.

    The intensity of a thunderstorm is just a question of how long there will be warm and moist air at the base and how steep the adiabatic cooling rate sinks with altitude.

    Nice video, though. Thanks for sharing.
