my son is 12 i've been sending him games for his ps3 from the usa. i know the gta4 that i sent is different than the one i saw in the shop when i was there. could he get in trouble for having fallout 3 unedited? he's a real good kid, i didn't know it had drug references in it-i know he's not going to run out and do drugs and wreck cars- can you get in trouble for having banned games? I've never heard of this-

  1. as long as he doesnt go to a police station n say " i have Fallout3" he should be okay. im assuemign this is Australia as thats the only country ive heard of with the ban.

I cnat see it been a law followed through as much as murder or takign drugs, so even if he was cuaght it would probs jsut be a warning.

I thinnk the ban is mainly on sellign the gmae anyway. like the way in which you cna posses but not deal some drugs.

  2. The original version of Fallout 3 that was submitted to the OFLC (Office of Film and Literature Classification) received a RC rating, which is Refused Classification.

The developer of the game tweaked a few things for the Australian version and resubmitted the game.

The game is now rating MA15+ in Australia - if purchasing an Australia version of the game.

Unfortunately the various powers-that-be in Australia are old backwards thinking people (idiots), and haven't yet introduced an R18 rating for games. But they will very soon.

Anyway. The Australian - slightly cut down version, is rated MA15+ and not banned.

A imported US/UK version of the game is banned. You can face penalties if you import a banned video game and it's discovered at customs/point of entry into the Country.

Usually though, you will warned and the game will be destroyed.

For your reference. A video game, movie or whatever that is rated MA15+ or R18 is NOT a guide or recommendation. It's law. A person under the age of 15 can not play a game, or even watch it legally.

Your child should not be playing GTA4 or Fallout 3, going by Australian Law.

No offence but it's people like you that make it very difficult for the powers-that-be to introduce a R18 rating for video games in Australia.
