i know every one says that fast food is bad for you. but when you think about it, not really. for example: whopper or chicken sandwich. it has lettuce tomato pickles onion which are all healthy. the bread is the same bread as you buy in the store, the only thing is the burger/chicken. if it has sooo many healthy things in it, why do people say is very bad for your health?????

  1. i just think it's bad for your health but i love fast food. but yet again you spend more money.

  2. Fast food is extremely bad for you.  A person should only enjoy it in moderation.  The things that go into your burger meat are just disgusting and the grease that fries just about everything else clogs the h**l out of your arteries.  Read Fast Food Nation or else just rent the movie.  Supersize me is another movie that will educate you on the healthfulness of fast food.

  3. It's not that you can't make fast food healthy, most people choose not to.  They choose fried chicken over grilled, mayo over ketchup and add fries and a drink because they think it comes that way.  Some burgers at Hardees have over 1,000 calories in a single burger.  Most people would not eat half a burger and say 'OK, that's one portion, I'll wrap up the rest for another meal'.  Most people don't realize if they grab a Big Mac, Medium Fry and Large Coke for lunch they have just consumed over 60% of the days calories.  It's not the food but the choice and portions which get people in trouble.

  4. its unhealthy because of the way they cook their meat. (despite the fact that the meat is all the fat of the animal and is packed in their freezers for god knows how long) They deep fry their meats and fries. Take that versus the lean meat you can get at the grocery's..

  5. well there are  healthier choices at fast food places but its HOW the food (in this case the chicken) is prepared and the dressing/whatever it is that they pile on top. also...they dont serve things on whole wheat which is what people should be eating.

so yes it is bad for you

and usually they are not big enough to fill you up -especially for how many calories are in the stuff

  6. Fast food can only be good when you eat something healthier like subway. Eating a burger is not going to be good for you just because it has that stuff on it!

  7. fast food is bad for you because of the size(meat is too big)

and the ingredients are preserved. now if you go to like in-n-out, its much better because they use fresh meat so the meat is healthier

  8. It is not the veggies that are bad for you (I don't think veggies can ever be bad for you). The amount of FAT that is typically found in fast food is bad for you. Hamburger meat used by top fast food chains are usually low quality and very high in fat (they do not use lean ground beef). The mayo, ranch, thousand island (Big Mac secret ingredient), and other great-tasting sauces also add fat and calories.

Also, adding cheese to the hamburger packs on more fat. With all of this in mind, imagine how much fat and sodium a double cheeseburger or triple Whopper has!!

Also, fast-food restaurants also have many deep-fried food on their menu including a health nuts enemy #1: French Fries! Fries and are loaded in fat and sodium.

Sodas and shakes also offer great amounts of calories and sugar.

The list is endless...but there are a few healthy options at every restaurant.

The key is to stay away from deep fried foods (fries, crispy chicken, crispy fish).

    Try to choose chicken over beef and grilled chicken over crispy chicken;

Eliminate fatty add-ons/condiments like cheese, mayo, and ranch.

Drink water! or iced tea with minimal sugar (no soda, even diet & no shakes).

Choose low-fat desserts like yogurt or fruit instead of sundaes and pies.

Don't go Super-Size! You really don't need to!

  9. There is nothing wrong with eating fast food once in a while, but eating it everyday is not healthy.

  10. The vegetables do not outweigh how unhealthy the ground beef and chicken fast food restaurants use. The are only like two tomatoes, one leaf of iceberg lettuce, and two pickles typically on the sandwhiches.  Two tomatoes really don't give you that much nutrition.  Iceberg lettuce, while it is not fattening, does not give any nutrition because it is pretty much the worse quality lettuce and is like having water.  The two pickles give even less nutrition than the tomatoes do and they are usually small, so they barely have any nutritional value.  While the ground beef patty is loaded with fat and the chicken is usually in a fried batter which makes it fattening.  However, the chicken could be healthy if it was grilled and you don't get the mayonaise, thousand island or any other fattening condiment, but there will probably be like only one grilled chicken sandwhich on the menu.

You can go to on fast food restaurants websites and get the nutritional information for their food and you can see how bad it is for yourself.  In high school my health teacher had us put down how many calories is in what we normally order at fast food restaurants.  I did Mc Donalds and found that for a medium french fries, medium soda, and Big Mac it was a little over 1000 calories.  Super Size Me and one of the last chapters of Fast Food Nation will also tell you how bad it is for you.

  11. the lettuce tomato and pickles arent all fresh, and the bread is good but it still as preservitives and artificial flavors in every food product, the worst would be the burger or chicken, b/c it's likely fried and loaded with calaries, even if the veggies are good, it's not enough to over power the fried food, they are good for you yes but  not with fast food

  12. Fast Food Restrunts usually fry there food in oil which removes all nutrition. Also they tend to add extra salt which is unhealthy. However if you where to get a salad and leave the dressing out than you would be O.K.

  13. Not all fast food is bad for you.  You just have to be careful.  Many fast food places spread a little butter (margarine/oil) on the inside of the bun and toast it.  That adds flavor and fat.  Tell them not to do it.  Mayonnaise or salad dressing is full of fat.  Leave it off.  Mustard is ok.  Avoid hamburger; again it is fat.  They may cook the fat off, but it leaves traces in the meat that are bad for you.  Avoid all fried meat like fried chicken.

But if you order a grilled chicken, skipping all the hidden fats that make it taste so good, it is not going to be all that bad for you.  Ask for extra lettuce and tomatoes if you can. Of course, it is on a bun so there is going to be alot of white bread.  If you are trying to save on the calories, eat half of the bun.  Usually all the messy stuff is on one side.  Take the bun half on the other side off and feed it to the birds.

So far as fries are concerned, there is no way to make them good for you.  Don't order them.  Some restaurants offer vegie alternatives which you might think are good, but if there is mayonnaise or salad dressing in them, watch out for the fat.  I looked up cold slaw once and was shocked at the fat content. The fruit cup might be ok.  I would check online to see if they add sugar.

Sodas, even diet sodas are also bad for you, but you can often substitute tea (unsweetened), bottled water or low fat milk.

So, your choices are going to be limited, but it is possible to eat a decent meal at a fast food place.
