I've been thinking this a long time. Theres a taco bell right by my school and I used to eat there often, then I decided not too because it's not very healthy. I noticed that it was REALLY hard for me not to go back for the first 2 weeks and then I wasn't craving it anymore. This has happend more than once, it's kinda like when you try to quit smoking the first three days are hard. I really think they put stuff in the food, is it true?

  1. i heard once that they put somespeacial chemical in the food that makes it addicting

  2. Here are a few thoughts on your topic....first of all MOST of the food that taste yummy at fast food places is a fatty carb, which in itself is addicting. We have all heard about "carb addict". Secondly,  even the salads have their negatives..they rinse the lettuce is sugar water to make it taste better. Lastly, there is a movie you can rent at the video store that will really educate on fast food. It is a documentary but its great.. its called "Supersize me"

    Hope this helps...

    Aloha

  3. lol that's funny... the only thing that's in the food is flavor (fatty stuff) and a huge PLUS the food comes quicker than restaurants and that makes it easy and suitable for some... but others who can't stop eating at fast food... well it is at times cheaper and you can order more for the price of eating at some dine in's... and fast food it just simply easy to get, it's at every corner, its fast food service and people get in and get out =p that's what i think ; )

  4. yeah, that's how they get people to come back time after time. it's addicting food served at a fast pace. everything has such a high salt content that it makes you crave more. it's like when you eat potato chips - they're so salty you can't have just one, you want more and more and pretty soon the whole bag's gone.

although some fast food places have started to get more healthy options on the menus - like mcdonalds serving salads and apple slices and yogurt.

  5. Fat and sugar is addicting, it has nothing to do with the Taco Bell, you were eating at a place that served fat and sugar, you gave up fat and sugar and it took a while for your body to adjust. It's good that your giving up fast foods. I gave up fatty foods after a lifetime of enjoying delicious fat only to realize that if I didn't have it I'd get sleepy, irritable, couldn't pay attention; but once you get past the addiction stage all you have to worry about then is relapse... delicious relapse

  6. I think its just your body. When your body is use to having the same thing all the time and then you take it away, your body start to crave it. It's just natural response from your body. I think so anyway.

If you haven't seen it already you should check out the documentary called Super Size Me. This guy (sorry but I can't remember his name) does a little experiment where for thirty days the only thing he is allow to eat is food from the McDonald's menu. I think he ate it three times a day and if I remember right he had to eat everything that was on the menu within that time period to. He talked about having Strong craving for burgers even after he just ate some, and knew he was full. I think you should really check out the documentary. You won't believe how the guy changes in those thirty days.
