Question:

Is feminism in general misunderstood by feminists?

Many of those who don the feminist cape appear to be at odds with the tenets of feminism as defined in most dictionaries and indeed by feminism HQ (NOW) itself.

The main incongruity is perhaps their concept of "equality". In practice it often seems to translate into man-hate and special privileges for females.

  1. No feminism in general is misunderstood by anti-feminists like you who masquerade as equalists to hide your woman-hate and the special privileges you want to retain for men.

  2. They understand it alright, they just use the word "equality" because it sounds good.  They never say they hate men, they just do.

  3. Since when have you talked to me that I told you that I hate men? Or when have I ever said that I believe that women should be treated better than men. You see, you don't know me so you have no right to make that kind of bias statement about me.

  4. In general, no. Maybe I live in some obscure corner of the world and only visit strange, abnormal parts of the internet, but I've seen virtually zero man-hating and demands for special privileges. I'm not trying to be rude to you, but honestly, it seems more like a legend touted by a few anti-feminists than reality.

  5. You're talking about radical and deluded feminists...Most of the people in this forum know that equality and honoring both genders is the basic tenet of feminism.

  6. You are deluded.  Feminism is an amalgam of all the beliefs of people who believe in feminism.  NOW is only one of those organization.  They are not the "ruler" of feminism.

Since you don't know what you are talking about, why do you keep asking questions that bring the reader to doubt your intelligence?

  7. No - feminism is not misunderstood by feminists. It is misunderstood by misoginists, and people with low IQ's.

  8. If that's what it is in practice, it's not feminism.

  9. No.

Feminism is mostly misunderstood by morons who accuse feminists of hating men, simply because feminist consider women human, and think they have more rights than only the right to give birth and clean house.

The so-called "equalists" idea of 'equality' is that no woman ever be allowed to live her life as she sees fit. THAT's a gross misunderstanding of 'equality' as well as gross misunderstanding of feminism.

  10. Many fall in love with the ideal feminism:  Equality  They then decide to tote the title, while totally oblivious to the reality of feminism.

    So, yes, it's definitely misunderstood.

  11. Well, technicaly "feminisim" Just means being feminine, so it probably would be misunderstood by feminists.
