Question:

Is feminism moderate?

Feminist label-bearers often insist that the people who lead feminism are people who have moderate views. Yet it is abundantly clear that their leaders - past and present - (McKinnon, Greer, Harman, etc) are not man-friendly to say the least.

Harman, to take just one example, is promoting laws which would enable a woman to shoot a man dead for insulting her or raising his voice to her. She previously supported laws to close down women's prisons and send only men to jail.

It is also said that three massive men's internment camps are to be built by the government.

  1. Geez, are you and Jim writing your answers together or what? These are some of his exact words.

As I stated earlier, the presence of followers is what makes a leader, not the presence of a leader's title. Therefore, with so few feminists agreeing with most of what these women promote, they cannot be accurately called leaders. They are simply empresses with no clothes.

That thing about internment camps has to be some kind of conspiracist tract.

  2. Apparently, feminism has no leaders, no ideological consensus, and no spokesperson. It appears to be a mash up of whatever female friendly rhetoric happens past the user's ear at any given time.

  3. Fereshte, Islamist extremists are marginalised, shunned and arrested, your extremists are in WESTERN governments changing laws, there is a big difference.

The sooner you lot stop legitimising and making excuses for them the better.

Lets not except Fascism in the West.

  4. I think the most important advancement for the movement would be to move away from the leaders and the people standing up and talking about feminism - and focus on the laws that will enable equal opportunities and rights.  Afterall, thats what the movement is supposed to be all about, right?

I don't quite understand why there NEEDS to be a leader for such a common sensical movement.  And those who are part of the movement - if they truly believe in the basis of it - should do what they can to decry the present day leaders and focus on the issues at hand - rather than the propaganda which gets spewed by its so-called leaders!

  5. are there several "Celtish" here? are you guys speaking Celtish language?

  6. There are radicals in ANY group-- should all muslims be blamed for the radicals that bomb innocent people?  Should ALL christians be blamed for abortion clinic bombings?  Should ALL democrats be blamed for wanting no punishment for drug dealers or ALL republicans blamed for any war?

No, of course not.  There are radicals in every fraction of life-- be in politics, religion, race, nationality, and yes, s*x.  So if there is a group, take feminism, for example, there will ALWAYS be radicals.  Just as there are radicals in the Men's Rights Movement.

For those radicals in feminism, they do NOT speak for me and often (if not always) say something that is completely against my personal views.  To me they do not represent feminism but simply hate.  They may call themselves feminists, but I do not see them as so.

But should be give up on religion because of radicals?  Should be walk away from politics because of the left or right wing radicals?  Should be leave countries because of the nationalist radicals?

No, we simply have to chose our own personal beliefs and stand by them as best we can while disavowing and arguing against those that taint or ruin the name of our group with their radical actions or words.

  7. In each group, there are a few people with radical opinions.

To answer your question, I would guess it probably is as most feminists aren't anti-men but refused to be treated with condescension and be housewives.
