Is firewire compatible with windows xp?

i got a video camera a JVC GR-D347U and needed a firewire to hook into my computer. so i went and bought a sima multi adapter. it has a IEEE-1394, mini B 5 pin, mini B 8 pin (flat), mini B 4 pin, and a USB B, all in one and for some odd reason i plug it into all of my computers (all of them run on windows 2000 or xp) and it wont read i am really stuck and confused if you could explain that will really help.

  1. Windows 2000 and XP both has native Firewire support, you may need to delete the entry under system devices (unknown) and then restart XP again.
