  1. The average is 15%. It depends on the total of your check. $5 may be acceptable...

  2. Not a chance.  I gave a dollar to the dude that gave me an $8 hair cut.  I thought it was rather generous because he did a poor job.  Stick with the 15% rule.  I always tip higher for better service.

  3. depends on the overall bill.   anywhere between 15-20% is best

  4. It really depends on your bill.  I always tip at least 20% because your server has to share that tip with the cooks and hostess' as well.  Some people think the entire tip goes to their server.

  5. If its for 3 people or less, $5 is completely fine. The more people you have at your table, the more you should tip because of all the people the waiters have to help. Tip about$1-2 per person, depending on the place.

  6. I personally think that waiters/waitresses should be paid at the regular minimum wage so that we don't have them so dependent on tips. Other countries like Japan have servers giving you service far beyond any waitress here and they don't tip over there.

It all depends. If you got very good service, then it also depends on how much you spent. if you spent $30 then yeah $5 is good enough. Do not tip if the waiter was rude or gave you attitude or ignored you. They don't deserve it if they don't work for it.
